in a small way / for the Small / in the name of the Small
Voices of the Small (VofS) is a multidisciplinary installation of performances and an on-going project happening in an urban space. For a spectator/participant, the totality is a wandering from piece to piece.
Artists from different artistic backgrounds are invited to examine small objectives, and based on small intentions, create new artworks or adaptations on existing pieces. The participating artists share the need to create from the (small) point of view/starting points/subjects of the Small and investigate the human actions in relation to non-living and living elements in the brutal urban space.
The first Voices of the Small happening took place in
Itä-Pasila, Helsinki between 6th and 7th of September 2014, as a part of UrbanApa Festival.
Next edition, Voices of the Small CARNIVAL is already in process and happening in Itä-Pasila in the spring 2016.
Voices of the
Small (VofS) on monitaiteellinen installaatio, esitystaideteos
ja jatkuva
projekti, joka
tapahtuu kaupunkitilassa. Katsojalle/kokijalle/osallistujalle kokonaisteos on vaellus teoksesta toiseen.
Tekijöitä eri taiteen (ja yhteiskunnan) aloilta kutsutaan tarkastelemaan
pieniä tutkimuskohteita ja luomaan tältä pohjalta uusia tai sovittamaan jo olemassa
olevia teoksia. Projektiin osallistuvia tekijöitä yhdistää halu tehdä
pienen/pienistä näkökulmasta/lähtökohdista/aiheista ja tutkia ihmisen toimintamahdollisuuksia suhteessa elottomiin ja eläviin elementteihin brutaalissa kaupunkitilassa.
Voices of the Small -kokonaisuus toteutui ensimmäisen kerran Helsingin Itä-Pasilassa 6.─7.9.2014, osana UrbanApa-festivaalia.
Seuraava versio, Voices of the Small CARNIVAL on jo työn alla ja tapahtuu Itä-Pasilassa keväällä 2016.
